I started working with Phil in August of 2013. He had about a dozen tunes written and ready to go. I asked him to send me some iPhone demos, and when I received them, I was blown away. The compositions were sophisticated, nuanced, and compelling. Shortly after that, we started talking about arranging ideas, and in a few months, we ended up with very rich and lush orchestrations for his compositions. In August 2014, we booked a few days at Dimension Sound Studios and brought in about fourteen musicians to create three different rhythm sections, a mini big-band and a string trio.

I had a lot of fun working on these tunes, and I also enjoyed taking a few fun guitar solos on the album.
