Welcome to the first “Sketches” post! This first “doodle” started out as a recording test for my new Godin guitar, and ended up as a totally valid song idea. It’s a simple vamp: |C|Ab#11|C|Ab#11|C|Ab#11|Gsus4|Gsus4|

I was playing around with idea of improvising over the vamp using C major and then the next time using Ab Lydian; while always hitting Gsus4 with Mixo. As the vamp goes on, I tried to put a little more care into hitting every change. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. I’m still wrestling with some ideas, but I like the direction it’s heading.
