Walbum – Week VII
October 23rd, 2006
Wow, seven weeks into this project….
At the beginning of this week I noticed that the whole thrill of the Walbum project had waned. All of a sudden it was no longer fun. It was now a deadline and a responsibility…
Too bad for me. I’m booking at date for the concert debut of all this music that I haven’t written yet. Maybe that will get me remotivated? Either way, I’m coming to terms with the fact that I’m not always inspired when I’m practing or composing music. Sometimes it’s just not that exciting. That doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t do it, but that home just isn’t an exciting environment. I’ve got to stop looking for the epiphany moments when I practice. Things come slow for me and they often come together when I least expect it.
Sibelius came in the mail this week. It’s has a small learning curve, but after a couple days I’m comforatable with it. My ears have gotten better since the last time I’ve composed on computer notation software, and now I’m singing the lines before I write them out. It’s pretty cool. I’ll put up some examples next week.
