Brendan Burns is a guitarist, educator, composer & producer based in the greater Boston area.
Brendan is the lead guitarist for SchoolTree & Kristen Ford Band. He performs regularly with Kathy Olson & 3rian King. He is the musician-in-residence at the Puppet Showplace Theatre, and performs live music for puppet shows with Bonnie Duncan & Tony Leva.

Brendan has been passionate about music since childhood. He began his studies on trumpet in elementary school, and then moved to guitar as a teenager. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Berklee College of Music, and has studied with Norm Zocher, Joe Stump, Bret Willmott, Bob Pilkington, Jay Weik, Tim Miller, & Charlie Banacos.
On Thursday, February 28th, 2013 Boston’s finest musicians & dancers came together to collaborate on Beck Hansen’s album “Song Reader” and bring it to life with live music & original choreography at the historic Somerville Theatre. Over 4 months in the making, this evening featured 150 musicians, dancers, performance artists and a choir. This show was co-produced by Brendan Burns & Karin Webb.
ELEPHANT TANGO ENSEMBLE — 2008-2012
Elephant Tango Ensemble was a collective of musicians, actors, puppeteers, designers and dancers focused on creative excellence through making puppets, composing music, and preserving story-time. Founded by Brendan Burns & Valerie Thompson, ETE brought their unique mix of live music, puppetry and storytelling to audiences of all ages throughout New England. ETE was nominated for an IRNE (Baby Zombie 2011) and was featured at the Mikhail Zakin Gallery (2010) in an exhibit of contemporary puppetry.
Brendan was the band leader and guitarist for a monthly variety show at Club Oberon called the Bent Wit Cabaret. In it’s two year run, the Bent Wit Cabaret featured the best of New England’s underground comedians, performance artists, musicians & puppeteers.
