The Style of Dave Matthews
This was my first Online Flash Lesson. It discusses the playing style of Dave Matthews.
The two main topics cover:
~ chord voicings for triads
~ Dave's Signature "1-5-9" Lick
This Lesson breaks down each topic by explaining background information, demonstrating of the
particular technique, and then suggesting homework exercises.
You can find this lesson here.
If you have any questions or comments, you can post them on the blog.
This lesson also appeared in an "Ask Brendan" Column. Click here for the link

Associative Knowledge
Associative Knowledge is an important concept for
organizing information. The basic idea, is that as you are learning the guitar (or anything
else), you are connecting new information to information you are already understand.
The value of Associative Learning is that when learning a new concept, it isn't separated
from what you already know about the instrument. Therefore, you don't have several different
things that you know, but one thing that can be manifested in several different ways.
It's hard for me to explain, but it's so very important. Click here for the Lesson

Got A Question?
"Ask Brendan" was a monthly column on this website from November 2002 until March 2004.
The column seems to be retired, but I'm hesitant to get rid of it (the questions don't
get old). "Ask Brendan" has now officially moved to the blog to help
generate discussion & clarity.
