Featuring the Mysterious inner workings of: spoken word artist Jha D, magician Dezrah the Strange, burlesque by Penny Candy and Abby Normal, The System of Soothing (a 7 minute opera by Frank Pesci based on a story by Edgar Allen Poe), art installation by Gina Hereen, the incredible Sugar Dish, Lainey SchoolTree, and Femme Brulee, with video by Samantha Olschan and Bill Domonkos curated by the undeniable Boston Underground Film Festival, Poetry, Dance, and so much more…

Acerbic, witty, and downright hilarious, this old broad is the original Mary! Called both a “gay icon” by her gay friends and “the grandmother I wish I had” by the lonely, Mary brings an hour of her best stories and songs from a life soaked in showbiz. Contemporary Puppetry: The Language Inside opens in the Mikhail Zakin Gallery.
On view August 2 – September 10.

This exhibit was created to introduce this amazing medium and explore a variety of techniques from cutting edge to traditional. Intended as a broad survey, the show includes artists from as far away as London, Canada, California, and New Orleans. The exhibition is comprised of 14 artists and art groups with works ranging from traditional puppetry to LED puppets, shadow and felted puppets, dioramas, toy theatres, videos and installation.
